The AEG SolarCube goes into a socket or onto an existing circuit and stores your solar power. From €1,490 including VAT for 4.8 kWh, expandable to 14.4 kWh per stack.
A 2.4 kW BMS module with one to three battery modules of 4.8 kWh underneath it. The inverter is built in, so there is no separate box. The set is AC-coupled: it measures what goes in and out of the house and charges itself with whatever your panels have to spare.
A hard-wired system means opening the fuse box and adding a circuit. This set does not: it goes into an earthed socket or onto an existing circuit. That saves installation work and makes it portable if you move. The trade-off is that the power is limited by what a socket can carry.
A battery that supplies power for hours loads the circuit it sits on. If a freezer or washing machine already hangs off it, the breaker will trip. We measure what the circuit can take and check that the earthing is sound; in houses built before 1960 that is often not the case.
The AEG app works on tariff: on a dynamic contract the set charges when power is cheap and discharges when it is expensive. On a fixed contract it is purely about using as much of your own solar power as possible.

The set with one 4.8 kWh battery costs €1,490 including VAT. Every extra battery is €1,200 including VAT, so 9.6 kWh comes to €2,690 and 14.4 kWh to €3,890. Our check of the circuit and the earthing comes on top; that price is stated in the quote beforehand.
One stack holds up to three batteries, 14.4 kWh together. Beyond that you place stacks side by side; in parallel up to 28.8 kWh is possible. At that size a hard-wired system is usually the wiser choice.
No. The moment the grid drops out the set switches off, just like your inverter. That is a safety requirement. If you do want backup power, you need a hard-wired system with extra switchgear in the fuse box.
The cells are LiFePO4, a chemistry that is less prone to thermal runaway. AEG supplies an aerosol fire suppression kit as standard. We install the set to the regulations and in a place where the heat can escape.
