Rewiring a house

Old cabling, too few circuits and sockets in the wrong places. During a renovation we replace the entire installation, from the fuse box to the last outlet, and hand it over certified to NEN 1010.

Rewiring a house: how we work

When rewiring makes sense

With cabling from before 1975, with two-core wiring that has no earth, or when the box still has screw-in fuses instead of breakers. A renovation is a natural moment too, since the walls are open anyway. Not sure? Send a photo of your fuse box and we will tell you whether a full rewire is really needed or targeted work will do.

What we replace

The fuse box with a modern distribution board and double residual current protection, the wiring to the fixed points, the switches and the wall sockets. Where possible we pull new wire through existing conduit, so there is less chasing into walls.

It can be done in stages

Not everyone wants the whole house opened up at once. We start with the circuits that carry the biggest risk, usually kitchen, bathroom and outdoor circuits, and pick up the rest later. That spreads the cost without leaving you unsafe in the meantime.

Clean work

We cover up before we start, vacuum afterwards and fill the drill holes. Painting we leave to your decorator. We agree in advance when the power goes off, so you can plan around it.

Send us your situation with a few photos and you will have a clear quote with a fixed price within 24 hours.

Frequently asked questions about rewiring a house

Question not answered here? Call or message us and we will think it through with you, free of charge.

How long does a rewire take?

For an average family home, three to five working days. With a staged approach we work in blocks of one or two days. The quote states a concrete schedule.

Can I stay in the house?

Usually yes. The power is off for half a day at a time, not for days on end. We make sure the fridge and the internet are down as briefly as possible.

Does everything have to be done at once?

No. We also replace only the fuse box, only the upstairs, or only the circuits without earth. What is sensible depends on what we find.

Do I get paperwork on completion?

Yes. You receive a test report to NEN 1010 and an overview of the circuit layout. Useful for your insurer and for the next time something has to be added.
