Dutch homes have a meterkast, usually by the front door, holding the main fuse, the circuit breakers and the residual current devices. In older houses it is often too small for how people live now: one circuit for the whole ground floor, and a breaker that trips whenever the kettle and the microwave run together.
In homes built before roughly 1960 the bedrooms frequently have unearthed sockets. They look normal, but there is no earth conductor behind them. That matters for anything with a metal casing, and it is one of the first things we check.
